Studio Life Lately
This past month has been pretty busy! And I love it! I'm totally the type of person that thrives with a long to-do list. Since Zach has been off for the summer from grad school, it's been the month of nib holders! I can't even begin to tell you how much fun it is to work on these. I lay a blanket down in my backyard while the baby is sleeping and just paint. I have daily 'pinch me' moments. After having spent 4 years cooped up in a stuffy corporate office for 9 hours a day, it is not lost on me the huge blessing it is to be able to sit in the sun and let my creativity run wild. You all are making a huge dream come true and I can not thank you enough!
Nib Holders
Galaxy Pen Collaboration with Bien Fait Calligraphy
Joi originally contacted me to try and make her 'Serenity' holder a reality. After we worked on that together she came back to me with a whole list of other ideas she had - all more creative than the last! And the moment I read, 'Galaxy,' I was sold. Yes. This totally resonated with me and my style. So I mentioned to her the idea of a Bien Fait Calligraphy line, inspired by her designs. She was all in, and wanted to donate a portion of the profit to our local animal shelter! Is this for real? This woman is a saint! It all just felt right. There's something really amazing about being able to make something you love and also use it to give back.
We're working on producing more, and fleshing out the different styles! Can't wait to show you them throughout the summer!
Logos
This month was a little slower on the hand-lettered logo side, but still steady. I've got 3 new ones booked for next month and 2 waiting to be released (and I'm so excited to show you those!) These 2 logos are in collaboration with Nineteen54 Web + Branding.
I love unique and efficient design and knew this was the perfect client for a logo stamp. They're style was very organic and worn, perfect for chipboard business cards!
Paper Goods + Signage
I love wedding season! Envelope addressing is my favorite, I love seeing the progress of a dwindling stack of envelopes, and writing all the different names. There's something so satisfying about it, and brush-lettering is definitely my favorite. And along with wedding season comes styled shoot season! Man, these ladies' creative visions and hard-work are characteristics to be admired. I somehow volunteered to lead up a styled-shoot down here in South-west Virginia on July 2, and I am totally ill-equipped, ha! So if anyone wants to help just send me a message ;)
